The common frog is a medium-sized species that inhabits a wide range of places in Belarus. It prefers to live in damp forests. It is rarely found in open biotopes.

The pool frog is spread irregularly throughout the whole territory of Belarus. It inhabits a variety of reservoirs, except rapid rivers. It is also often found in damp forests in the south of Belarus and in wet meadows.
