Description
“EXILE” The Making of Exile On Main St., Dominique Tarlé's extensive archive of Nellcôte photographs in this Limited Edition Genesis Book.A beautiful example of Dominique Tarlé’s long-out-of-print Rolling Stones book Exile, published in a limited edition of only 2000 by Genesis Publications. Exile documents the Stones recording their most acclaimed album, Exile on Main Street, at Villa Nellcote in France during the summer of 1971.
Photographer Dominique Tarlé was a guest of Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg, and extensively photographed the band recording and relaxing. Exile contains 280 of Tarle’s extraordinary photographs, and written contributions from Richards and Pallenberg, Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor, producer Glyn Johns, engineer Andy Johns, Stones manager Marshall Chess and many others in the band’s inner circle.
This beautiful book is quarter bound in leather, with gilt pages and an inlay set into the front cover, housed in a custom gilt stamped slipcase. This example is #366 of 2000 copies produced, and signed by Dominique Tarlé. A fresh copy in virtually mint condition (the book has one tiny bump verso upper left corner).
10 1/4″ x 14 3/4″. One of the most sought after titles published by the highly collectible Genesis Publications.
This beautiful collection of images ranks amongst the finest and most revealing ever taken of The Rolling Stones or of any rock band. Remarkably, as a body of work the photography remained unpublished for over thirty years.
