Here is a great very old whiskey advertising wall clock! It was found in a box of a long closed bar basement! As you can see the clock is in really nice shape. ALMOST EVERY example of these has the same issue....the words decomposed over time. This clock runs quietly....I did NOT check how accurate because it is missing the time setter knob/shaft.
so...it runs...it looks great...missing set knob...words degraded.
